New Guidelines for Alberta Advantage Immigration Program
The demand to immigrate to Alberta is far higher than the province can accommodate within the limited number of nominations received from the federal government every year. Therefore, the Alberta Advantage Immigration Program (AAIP) must manage its 2024 allocation to address economic priorities across all sectors.
As a result, to help manage the incredible demand, processing times and maximum nominations for 2024, AAIP has adopted new guidelines for the Alberta Opportunity Steam, Rural Renewal Stream and Accelerated Tech Pathway, similar to those used in the Tourism and Hospitality Stream.
Each month a targeted number of applications will be accepted into the pool from where AAIP will draw. This approach provides applicants with multiple opportunities to apply and access to the program year-round.
Eligibility criteria for the Alberta Opportunity Stream, Rural Renewal Stream, Accelerated Tech Pathway and Tourism and Hospitality Stream have not changed.
New Guidelines
- Effective June 11, 2024, the following streams and pathways have adopted the new approach:
- Alberta Opportunity Stream
- Rural Renewal Stream
- Accelerated Tech Pathway
- Tourism and Hospitality Stream
- Applications will be accepted monthly, starting on the following dates:
- June 11, July 9, August 13, September 10, October 8, November 5, and December 10
- When a stream or pathway monthly application target is reached, no further applications will be accepted until the next date.
- Application acceptance dates, application targets and processing times are posted on alberta.ca/AAIP and are subject to change. Applicants/prospective applicants should visit regularly for the most current information.
- The new approach offers many chances to apply.
